VISA REQUIREMENTS Citizens of countries NOT mentioned under headings A, B and C below require an Entry or a Transit Visa. Subject to the following amendments, Citizens of the following countries do not require a visa to enter Malta: A. Commonwealth Countries*** Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Cyprus, Dominica, Fiji, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Nauru, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Seychelles, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, United Kingdom, Vanuatu, Western Samoa, Zambia. B. U.K. Dependencies Anguilla, Bermuda, British Antarctic Territory, British Indian Ocean Territory, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Henderson Ducie and Oene Islands, Montserrat, Pitcairn, St Helena, St Helena Dependencies, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands, Tristan Da Cunha, Turks and Caicos Islands. Bilateral agreements and arrangements Andorra, Argentina, Chile, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt***, Estonia, Hungary, Israel, Japan, Republic of Korea, Kuwait***, Latvia, Libya, Lithuania, Monaco, Morocco***, Poland, Saudi Arabia***, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, South Africa***, Tunisia***, United States of America (including Northern Marianas***), Uruguay, Vatican City. NOTES: 1. ALGERIA - Visa Applications have to be submitted in the usual manner. However, when approved, the visa is issued without government charge. 2. Sudanese nationals en route for Libya through Malta require a transit visa to enter Malta and a valid residence permit for Libya and exit re-entry visa. In the case of Sudanese holders of diplomatic, official or special passports, they also require an entry visa to Libya. 3. HONG KONG citizens in possession of a British Overseas Passport (BOC) or a British National Overseas (BNO) Passport*** and MACAO citizens in possession of a "Regio Administrativa Especial de Macao" Passport do not require a Visa. 4. Visitors requiring an entry visa to Malta and who undertake day trips (of less than 24 hrs) to another country shall henceforth be exempted from paying another entry visa on their return to Malta.

expired within the last 5 years. Amendments to Visa requirements With effect from the 1st June 2002, Chinese nationals holders of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) passports shall no longer require a visa to enter Malta. As from the 1st October 2002, nationals of Bulgaria and Romania will no longer require a visa to enter Malta. With immediate effect nationals of Zimbabwe shall require a visa to enter Malta. Holders of British Overseas Citizens passports (BOC) and British National Overseas passports (BNO) shall require a visa to enter Malta as from the 1st October 2002. Egyptian and Tunisian nationals would require a visa to enter Malta as from the 1st January 2003. Turkish and Moroccan nationals would require a visa to enter Malta as from the 1st January 2003. With regard to Algerian nationals they would still require a visa to enter Malta, however, it will cease to be free of charge (as it is presently), as from the 1st January 2003. The countries listed hereunder shall require a visa to enter Malta with effect from the 1st October 2002.
